We invite you to the showing of the film “The Burning Wall”(USA, 2002, 115 min.), which will be shown on the 27th of March at 5:20p.m. in the cinema “Rodina-Ðîäèíà” (Karavannaya 12) in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall – the physical embodiment of the Iron Curtain for 28 years. The film is directed by Hava Beller, who was born in Germany, grew up in Israel, and now lives and works in the United States. “The Burning Wall” tells the story of individual resistors to the former totalitarian state of East Germany, the history of fights and/or cooperation with the secret police, the Stasi, who had more than 100,000 agents, and the history of the dissident movement.

After the end of the film, there will be a discussion at 7:30p.m. on the topic “The Life of Others: processing the totalitarian past in public and individual consciousness.”
